Illustration and Concepts

This week marks the start of my next class with CSU, Illustrations and Concepts. I am creating this post as a way to compare my knowledge on completion.

The aim of Illustration and Concepts is…

“Students will study a range of professional illustration styles and techniques while exploring the potential of illustration and gaining an understanding of its use as a powerful visualisation tool. Students will also develop an awareness of illustration as a profession and its role within contemporary society.” (Charles Sturt University, 2018)

Initial Thoughts

I am very excited about studying illustration and concepts. To approach this field with a broader appreciation of the professional process is something I am looking forward to doing.

Current Skills

I have been creating digital illustrations for the past ten years, with various programs such as Adobe Illustrator. My design aesthetic is simple designs, mainly aimed at Kawaii culture and children.

Areas for improvement

There is room for significant growth in new styles and advanced skills in different forms of illustration, primarily through traditional mediums.
